Edgar Degas, a French artist born in Paris in 1834, was known for his talent in drawing people in motion. Coming from a wealthy family, he often sketched performers at the Paris Op?ra as they practiced and moved around. Degas was best known as a painter, but he also worked in photography, printmaking, and sculpture. He was arguably one of the most influential artists of the nineteenth century.
